Service area has poverty population of over 250,000 persons. Appalred focuses on family law matters, especially rights of children; consumer issues; housing ; public benefits; Mine saftey issues and black lung benefits; environmental issues; a migrant worker project; a low income home repair and housing development project; and special outreach to elderly citizens with respect to their legal issues and benefits such as free prescription drugs.
